I recently attended a meeting with Mayor Chris Mcpherson of Oudtshoorn Municipality. We discussed the Road Cycle Project which will raise awareness of the Sea-Battical voyage. Vusi Marenene, a quadriplegic cyclist from our town will accompany me on the land Cycle Project.
Mayor Mcpherson expressed great enthusiasm for the entire project and extended his official endorsement, which holds significant value for our team. The mayor’s support not only signifies the importance and relevance of this initiative but also serves as a testament to the positive impact it can have on our community.
We discussed the overarching objectives of the project, which primarily aims to empower and inspire individuals with physical disabilities, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities within the realm of sports. My collaboration with Vusi Marenene, a remarkable quadriplegic cyclist, further exemplifies the indomitable spirit of individuals who overcome challenges and serves as a role model for others.
Mayor Mcpherson conveyed his appreciation for the efforts and dedication we have put into the project thus far. He acknowledged the potential of the Voyage and Road Cycle Project to create a positive ripple effect, both within Oudtshoorn community and beyond, by raising awareness about the capabilities and achievements of differently abled athletes.
